Ok, this is a "sub-suggestion." I think you should by a car from Europe that meets the 25 year import exemption rule. Then, you get a trip to Europe to check it out, you can detail all the fun times you have (read: entertaining hassles) importing it and maintaining it, and then selling it, preferably back to Europe.

Two awful, horrible, unrepentantly bad cars. I like it.

Only $42,400, baller on a budget?

But really, pick the H1.

Okay, so my Twitter suggestion of a Mastretta is probably not going to fly (even though I would love to read about the struggle of it in resale), so here's my second suggestion: a Hummer H1 Alpha.

I look forward to how much you paid vs. how much you sold it for... the total cost of ownership for 12 months will be an interesting read.

I'm glad Jalopnik hired you... best articles on the site by far.

Rod, is that you?

Everyone should disregard the utter crap BS post at the top and listen to the comment above instead. Seriously.

If you haven't noticed this by reading Tavarish's articles by now, his time is worth exactly zero. It's hilarious how there is absolutely no value assigned to any of these maintenance and work intensive project cars he recommends.

Your profit/loss in no way takes into account your time spent on it.

Several people actually said things to me. "Must've been a good year, huh?" or "Not much concern for the environment with you..." The unspoken was WAY worse than the spoken, though. Pull up anywhere in a G Wagen and you're just a total asshole, and you know it, and they know it, and you want to crawl under a rock.

OMG now I can text while off-roading!!!

This article has me terrified to ever buy a used car again.

Doug, it was a GORILLA.
