I’ve told my family that I’m rapidly paying off my debt. Somehow they think I have extra money now, despite not being done paying off debt, and keep asking me to pay for things.

I think some people feel forced to confront their own habits when you try and clean up or change yours. That’s uncomfortable so they just lash out at those of us trying to improve ourselves.
I think the way you approach it and your attitude about it will influence how the people in your life react. If you’re negative about how you do it - I can’t do this, I can’t do that, never suggesting an alternate within your budget, etc. - they may react negatively as well.
Lies! LIES! Have you ever put Milk Duds in the fridge and then tried to eat one? That’s a workout, my friend.

I’ve been seeing the Bias lighting on sale a lot recently. Which always makes me wonder, am I the only one that watches TV or a movie with the lights on?

I’m going to give it a try but I’ve been using pocket cast forever and it’s such a great app. I feel like I should stay with them and support the little guy.
This article made me laugh a little as I thought about the crazy people on MyFitnessPal. Don’t get me wrong, I use the app and it’s helpful, but their community can be crazy much of the time. People figuring out how they can track the calories burned while vacuuming the house or washing the dishes. Come on.
What do you mean “extra pesticides”? I can’t think of one farmer who wants to add more pesticides than the very minimum to save on costs. I’ve worked for farmers and food producers. No one wants more costs. I’ve seen years when certain pests wiped out 15% of a crop, and, even then, very little was done to save the…
Just because people want the Bern doesn’t mean it’s the best thing for them. :)
Do you have scars now?
Or just don’t use credit cards if you can’t pay your bills every month. Comparing credit cards is so much easier when you can ignore the differences in rates.
Personal Finance to me has always been about three things to me:
* Freedom of choice, not choices foisted upon me
* Freedom of fear of the unknown, being able to handle the unexpected
* Freedom of opportunity, I never wanted an opportunity to slip by because I didn’t have enough saved
Yep! In my opinion, if you want really good sleep, ditch the light up screens entirely. Leave your phone in another room, turn off the TV, and read a book (or an eBook on a soft screen).
I’ve been using a Night Mode app on my tablet and found, especially when reading comics, that it has helped me to ‘get tired’ more easily. However, I think an overlooked aspect of Night Mode is the placebo effect. Whether it actually works or not for me, I do know that when I pull out my tablet to read when going to…
Something is bothering me about this. It seems like the better way would be to just turn things off... phone, tablet etc. I get the impression that another hitech solution is being thrown at a hitech problem, when just notech would serve better.
I’ve been using Redshift a free software plugin for Linux. I think it works pretty well.
Be careful taking melatonin supplements regularly. As the article pointed out, it is a hormone. It is typically produced naturally by your body. Taking it over an extended period of time without a doctor’s supervision could reduce or even eliminate your ability to make it on your own, leading to a dependency that is…
I can’t say why, but between Flux on my PC and twilight on my phone I fall asleep MUCH easier than before using those services.
