Why is it treated like some kind of surprise every year that the OSCARS fucking suck?
The Dark Knight died a hero, while Joker lived long enough to get a nomination.
I sincerely think Green Book won as a means for some Academy Voters to spite the #OscarsSoWhite crowd.
No I think they’re saying that it’s harder to empathize with people who spent their career pointedly not empathizing with others.
But pretty much everybody in it is enormously famous.
Yeah, seriously, it is weird that in the same movie with the powerful message of “they’re just people” regarding the fleet that destroys the final order, the same creative voices don’t get why people might like to see that same sort of idea extended to the main characters.
You sound super invested in this projection of Rian Johnson you’ve created.
The love thing would be at least a little interesting. Who cares if Finn is force sensitive at this point?
It really feels like he was playing it like he wanted to tell her he loved her. Maybe they changed their mind at some point? (Like when Rey can’t accept Luke’s lightsaber but then does two minutes later.)

He definitely had a vision. He just didn’t have your vision. Get over it.
It’s interesting how much I agree with Johnson, and like his approach and attitude - and even his other movies, from what I’ve seen - but still didn’t enjoy “The Last Jedi.” I admire his big swing, and I love a few parts (pretty much everything with Rey and Kylo), but I wish I could point to it as a counter-example to…
