A coworker a while back taught me something similar. He would sprinkle tons of salt on his food to make sure he wouldn’t eat it. Not a bad option, especially if you don’t like extremely salty food.

My philosophy is pretty similar. When I see something I want I just assign it the max price I’d be willing to pay. Then tracking it to see if it ever hits or if I just lose interest.
Or not. I worked in a city for four years before moving to my current one. I plan on being here for another three or four years and moving again. You can’t convince me it would be better to buy a place when I don’t know the area very well to begin with and then deal with the hassle of reselling.
