Calling Wright “washed-up,” aside from being inaccurate, is a lazy cheap shot. The guy is playing with spinal stenosis, yet is second on the team in OBP, which befits his role as the #2 hitter. He is a tick below his teammates in many other categories because he can only play around 5 games a week....because, you

you’re exaggerating tom. chill out. your headline would lead you to believe he yelled at him in front of reporters or something. what’s he supposed to say?

100 RBIs 5 years in a row. Leads the Mets (career) in pretty much every offensive category.

Two game winning hits in the past week and a 3-run dong on Monday. Try next week with that comment.

THAT is a scolding? What a bunch of butthurt-getting pussies we’ve become.

I don’t agree with this spin. Wright is right and Harvey is wrong. Homeboy can’t let this shit slide, Harvey has been a discontent with the team and in that city. Ship him to a small market where he will be much happier.

Tom, I have to disagree big time here.

Uh this isn’t Harvey’s first run in with trouble/rough patch. He’s been through it before. If wright doesn’t address it he’sa shitty captain and this hardly reads as a scolding. It’s mostly apologetic in tone. I suspect the writer doesn’t watch Mets baseball/ trolls for click bait spin :(

It’s not about how “the young hotshot youngster handled himself with the press...”. Because he didn’t “handle himself with the press” . He left. The 2nd year backup catcher was then forced to explain the 6.08 ERA of the “hotshot youngster”.

What’s the problem here? There’s nothing really wrong with what Wright said and I would find it incredibly hard to believe he would say that to the press without saying something similar to Harvey in private. Isn’t this pretty much what a team leader is supposed to do?

Hotshot youngster? He’s frigging 27 years old. The way you guys are not only willing to accept the crappiest behavior out of players but actively cheer it on is amazing to me. He’s a PROFESSIONAL and there’s nothing wrong with the captain of his team wanting him to act like one.

Seems like you’re being a bit harsh on Wright in a strained effort to cram this into your narrative. Right or wrong, SPs are supposed to talk to the media after their starts, and lord knows Harvey loved talking to the media when things are going well. And Wright didn’t throw him under the bus, he very politely

Am I missing something here? What exactly is the big deal about what Wright did here. While he might be washed up due to injury, he is not some scrub. He has been an all star player and is still the captain of the team and is a guy who has been able to successfully navigate the NY cesspool for years and come out

yeah I mean also, David Wright might be the best Met ever and this is still in many ways his team. He’s the captain and I think people should trust his judgement.
