Will it still be on 8/8?

My barely informed speculation is that investors are doing the “greater fool” model. Namely, they’re not optimistic that Tesla will deliver, they don’t care if it does or doesn’t. They’re optimistic that Big News will attract other investors and inflate the stock price. Actually delivering products is for losers.

Not a statistic, but where I live, in Southern California, the damned things are all over the place. Often with paint, not the stainless finish. And they definitely give off fascomobile vibes.

Just a few years ago, I worked in Lyon. Took a plane from LAX to CDG, took the high-speed train right from the CDG airport to Lyon. Easy, fast, and comfortable. Even at high speeds, the countryside was gorgeous. And the train was not all that expensive either.

Wasn’t there an X (?) from Musk that Robotaxis would be unveiled on August 8? No, wait -- it was on “8/8", which is naughty-boy code for HH or, yes, Heil Hitler. Isn’t he such a scamp. Ugh.

I plug in my 2018 Prius Prime every chance I get. I’ll pick one destination over another because there is a charger nearby. I drive over 90% on EV, and can take a road trip and enjoy side roads without being prisoner of the inadequate charging network.

Yes, it’s not free. It’s just free at point of sale. That makes a big difference in access and usability. Also, Sweden’s taxes are not 100% more than ours, more like 50% more. Because of that, and things like free college, they have higher social mobility than we do.

My first thought was, if the experience of only a few drivers matters, why wouldn’t they provide actual remote drivers to make sure everything goes well? Sort of like drone operators.

We’re waiting for a small PHEV. May have to wait a long time...

Saying BS loudly is a huge win for many. It’s a sign of power. Lies are victory. In fact, the bigger the lie, the more powerful the liar. Being beholden to the truth is a sign of weakness.

I think there’s some confusion. Seeing “the market” as monolithic is a mistake. There are customers who can be ignored because there are other customers who want something more expensive. “The market” wants a variety of things, but only the part of “the market” that wants the more profitable item is being served. What

“Which side is the appendix again?”

Every time I park my Prius Prime next to a lamppost, I eye that screwed-shut box near the bottom that either houses a plug or the wiring for a plug. Ordinary 110V plug, but what the hell, better than nothing! One day, maybe, if I’m feeling brave, I’ll open one up and see if a plug has been installed.

Tell me about it! (ouch...)

>I want to hone in on the word “loud” here

I got Covid in Vienna. My n=1 impression was that their system is fantastic. Quick access (one day!), reasonably priced (since I don’t have an Austrian health card) at $80/visit, and the kind of utterly professional pharmacy you can’t find here outside of a hospital.

As for wellness justifications for gum, I’ve heard that the only cure for an earworm is chewing gum. So that’s one.

Nice paraphrase from The Devil Wears Prada. May I point out that you did not credit the writers, Aline Brosh McKenna and Lauren Weisberger (who also wrote the book), but the actress. Ms Streep very professionally said the lines given to her by the writers, but did not come up with them.

Your headline should have “whoever”, which is the subjective case. “Whomever” is the objective case. Usually the error is the other way around, so I guess this is an over-correction.

I just bought a half-gallon of chocolate chip at Fosselman’s in Alhambra (in Los Angeles County). Excellent! Fosselman’s is a treasure, since 1919.
