The biggest problem for me with the i8 is the interior. Looks like every other beemer, from the outside you are buying a spaceship but all the appeal is lost when you get inside. Needs to have an interior as stylish and futuristic as the rest of the car

The lane is there to be used for the end. If this is used correctly and with courtesy to all it should be seamless. When everyone panics and goes straight to the merge you end up with an ever increasing line of stopped traffic.
