The Simple Dollar isn’t the be-all and end-all of personal finance. Like founder Trent Hamm, Holly Johnson is not a financial professional. Again, like Hamm, she’s someone whose family was deep in debt, got her family out of debt and now touts the frugal plan that worked for her in her situation.

This is silly. She was a full time employee paid with benefits and hourly wages average out expected effort.

I pay $10 an hour. For date nights it’s little more than entertaining him for two hours, feeding a bottle, setting him in his crib, and watching Netflix until we come back. $15 is too high for what the job is, I’m really paying them not to go out that night, not the physical tasks involved.
