Where does it say that he’s not supposed to return? Hazel simply pointed out that he was returning and the reason for his original dismissal - and being a woman’s site and all, this is something we probably find interesting. But nowhere did she say he should not be able to return, or that it should carry a life

So she’s not allowed to talk about her own personal experience with her mental health because... It’s different than your personal experience? I’m sorry you went through what you did, depression is brutal (I’m bipolar), but I understand what she’s saying as someone who is a life-long depressive. You have to find a way

Exactly. She’s basically talking about self-acceptance and learning to live - and even find the positive - in how her brain is wired.

She didn’t say depression is beautiful. She said she’s learned to find her own depression beautiful. Depression is different for everyone; I don’t see the harm in her trying to see the positive side of her mental illness.

Exactly.  There’s a big difference between “these crystals will cure your depression” and “I’ve learned to live with my depression in a way I can experience as beautiful.” For her to describe the latter is not a personal attack on people who don’t share her experience, but this article sure feels like a personal

She’s very watchable in her work with Luca Guadagnino (Suspira, A Bigger Splash).

It might depend on what she’s cast in. I quite liked her in the very short-lived TV show Ben and Kate.

Imagine expressing how you have learned to cope with your mental health, only to be told you’re wrong because it might not be relatable for everyone.

One of the earliest life lessons I remember getting was when I threw an apple core on the ground in my school gym. My dad saw, made me pick it up and put it in the trash. He said “never make someone else’s job harder if you don’t have to.” I’m going to teach the same thing to my potential kid so they don’t turn out

What. An. Asshole. I hope the MTA sends him a bill for the cleanup and bans him for life.

Somebody should have beat his ass.

What a fucking prick. Look at those people- they have to wear masks to ride the subway, everyone is stressed out, anxious, scared and many of those riders look to be in an age group where they likely have genuine concern about their health and survival. And this dude comes along with this “prank”. Somebody should have

But worse is that 1/2 the time they are just youtube influencers.

Yeah, when you break this one down to it’s foundation, it’s just pointing out that MKO is very rich, pissily. There’s a lot of comedic/satiric possibility in resenting the rich; Joan seems to believe that her resentment is interesting in and of itself.

Joan is great to read when she’s not writing Dirt Bags though.  I really enjoy her features, very thoughtful and no exclamation points!

Cosigned.

Yeah this little roundup doesn’t feel snarky or clever. Someone who managed to become and remain hugely successful after childhood stardom is getting divorced, has a prenup and she smokes!? Ok, it's so bitter I'm much more on MKO's side. She had a weird life, divorce's are hard. Normally I might be cool with poking

Can’t we even have Jim & Pam during a pandemic?

The tone of dirtbag shifts so much. Lauren and Garrett’s are fun, cheeky, and poke at celebs. Joan just comes across as bitter and angry. To each their own, but their less fun to read.

This sounds like a very legally guarded way of saying “I pushed back but was under contract with a production company and show runner that had much more power than I had.” As morally fulfilling as it sounds, sometimes it just isn’t possible to walk out of a job and you have to accept that you can only express your
