I forgot about that, but I remember Williams got a lot of attention for Aladdin and the trend seemed to start there.
I understand where it started. Robin Williams with Aladdin, which made sense because he was a huge star at the time and it was a comedic performance, but now every voice role is a name actor. I just don't see how it adds to the bottom line.
Slightly off topic, why do filmmakers hire stars like Moretz instead of professional voice actors? I mean obviously it's got to be way more expensive, but she doesn't seem to be all that involved in the films promotion. And how much do kids really care about stars anyways? Silverstone for sure. Chris O'Donell and Uma Thurman disappeared for awhile after that one. Arnold was so disgraced he had to get into politics. Schumacher was the most hated director in the world until Michael Bay came around. Only Clooney walked away unscathed.
These days I remember BF more for its soundtrack, which I really liked. The movie itself was really bad, but the success gave Shumacher the confidence to make the really awful film of dreams. There's just no comparison in mind, Batman and Robin is one of the worst movies ever made. That movie ended people's careers…
