I can answer this since I recently worked for a long time in a Registrar’s Office at a university. What follows is standard practice across most US institutions but there are any number of caveats and exceptions.

Compulsive lying is a diagnosable mental illness.
This is my biggest question: she claimed to have passed a top security clearance check, which I would hope would be thorough. Did she, or was that another lie?
Instead she’ll get tons of interviews, claim all those easily verifiable lies are just smears, and end up comfy on Fox News or Brietbart
How, in this day and age can you get away with such blatant inflation of your easily-verified credentials? I work in finance and they went over my ass with a fine-toothed comb and verified every single thing from my education, to calling up the people listed, and not listed, on my resume to find out more about me and…
Why are we supposed to believe they really did a background check? The first person “in Congress” looked at theresume once and called BS. The real story someone needs to research was how she is connected which enabled a no questions asked hiring.
Not white enough
I work in higher ed where everyone has to be, due to ridiculous education inflation, degreed with transcripts up the wazoo. Note: Having a piece of paper from a university does NOT make a person talented. My stepdad never attended college but could recite Mark Twain and Shakespeare and led impressive high-end detailed…
Yeah, off the top of my head I can’t think of a single newsworthy thing going on in politics. Oh well. Looks like The Slot is the next on the chopping block.
Yes, tell me more.
All the ones that would have inforced the law have been fired or are working overtime cleaning up the mess that the Sate Department has become.
I work in executive search, and we verify the education of all candidates as soon as they’re at the stage where they’ll actually meet with the client. 99% of them check out just fine, but when we do get a lie, it’s almost always something to do with claiming to have a degree from somewhere when you actually did the…
I work at DoS. She looks NOTHING like this in person. Like no where near. She airbrushed the shit out that Time pic for sure.
I confronted someone I know that they went to the in town university for four years on their resume, because I know for a fact they failed out after one.
This is the real story here. Major media is understating this as padding, embellishing or exaggerating, but that implies that there is some basis in truth. Ex: Claiming to have graduated with honors when you actually only graduated. Or claiming to have graduated when you only attended. Or claiming an actual degree…
it’s okay, only a small fraction of the Trump officials who engage in criminal misconduct spend any time in jail.
“Although it is unclear exactly what Chang is protesting, it might be safest to assume it is her apparent sworn enemy, the truth.”
I’m pretty sure that it is seriously illegal to lie on the sort of forms she’d have to fill out for a State Dept job. She may not need to look for a new job for a few years.
$5 gets you $10 she ends up being hired at Fox News to show their “diversity.”
I cannot fathom what drives a person to do this kind of thing.
