With the possible execption of place like Notre Dame where a fee is for upkeep - churches and temples don’t charge admission.

And the old joke about platypuses, that they were made up of the jumble of leftover bits in god’s grab bag.

Some denominations of Christianity even think all the other denominations are going to hell. Like “well Steve does believe all of the things we believe, but he lets his wife wear pants so they’re both going to hell, sucks for Steve” My husband went to a Church of Christ when we first met and they think it’s a sin to

That and the fact that the vast majority of the animals native to Australia exist only there. Almost as if isolated from the rest of the world they evolve differently.

Well lets see after eight years of Obama they haven’t ceased so as long as Trump is in office I plan to bitch about it. I’m even buying lots of guns and making vague innuendos about using them the same way Tea Baggers have done for pretty much all of Obama’s entire presidency. I can’t wait to drag Barron Von Trump

I’m still baffled by how anyone from Australia can not believe in evolution. How can you look at an echidna or thorny devil and think “oh yea, someone planned that out”?

Although I have a curiosity about these modern day freak shows, I could never go because that would mean financially supporting them. It is like the trump supporters going to Starbucks and putting his name on their cups. You are still giving money to people that you think are wrong.

and tax breaks.

I dunno, how long did the birther thing last after Obama was elected?

Ken Hamm has proved that is was possible for the Ark to be built. Provided Noah had a few million dollars, modern construction technology and a massive team of workers.

Or, a term the talk radio loved the last eight years, low-information voters.

We were just talking about this last night. Like, do these morons not realize that enrolling for healthcare via an exchange set up under the ACA is Obamacare??

This is off topic but the Social Security changes really worry me. My children all receive Social Security Survivor Benefits (my husband passed away). We depend on that money to replace his income. It’s been a huge part of why I’ve continued to be able to give my kids some stability and keep them in the same school

I saw some stats regarding the most recent enrollments in the ACA, top 5 states with most enrollees ALL went to Trump.

I think we’re all honestly developing our own defense mechanisms in response to this horror, because I have friends who react more like you.

I want to. I want to feel schadenfreude so very badly, but the schadenfreude is so shitty when it also affects me...

I’m having a hard time feeling any sympathy for Trump voters who get health benefits via the exchange or who receive Medicare/Social Security who seem stunned that the continuation of these benefits is now in real jeopardy. I feel sorry for everyone smart enough not to vote for Trump who will lose access to these

It’s interesting how different that’s been. I personally just despair even more when I see this shit (like, HOW did you not realize these things before you voted??? HOW COULD YOU BE SO STUPID?), but I have a lot of friends who react the same way you do.

“I guess I’ve been living in a bubble. [Pence] sounds like a tyrant, they remarked.”

As terrifying as this whole thing, the schadenfreude I get from seeing supporters’ eyes open about how they were conned has been beautiful. Just beautiful.
