The Jimmy Fallon thing is confusing/irking me. It’s being reported as if its a revelation or something that didn’t air and was buried in a vault...but it was literally Saturday Night Live with a whole audience laughing at the shit to boot.

I think in practice random celebrities tweeting “hey I did this really offensive thing in 1999, but I’m so sorry now” would come across as unbearably performative. Like they just want attention and pats on the back for being woke, and they think that now they’ve fessed up they’re immune to criticism.

You could say this about lot of groups, not just Whites. How many black comics have homophobic or misogynistic material?

Okay but is Jimmy going to apologize for being a medicore white male in an industry where plenty of women and POC (who don’t do fake laughing and fake water spitting) would do a lot better job than he ever could?

If everyone walked off Twitter, the world would be a better place. But people are hooked on those sweet, sweet “likes” and the idea that maybe one day some exhausted and/or lazy and/or incompetent journalist will print one of their Tweets on a topic rather than actually do some reporting about it...

Remember, Trump’s base loves him because he hits the people they want to hit, like families of combat veterans and women who die of tragic accidents.

All of this.

Twitter/Jack Dorsey have been absolutely appalling in their response to this. Her grieving parents and widower are being re-traumatized while twitter shrugs . It is disgusting that Trump gets to use his power to manipulate her memory, meanwhile those who actually have a claim to her memory stand by helplessly.

(Staten Island is largely Republican, unlike the rest of the city)

You are a tedious mansplainer. Good enough.

We heard “Phoebe Waller-Bridge is behind it” and tuned in thinking this was going to be a Fleabag and/or Killing Eve when it turned out to be neither. It didn’t help either that the trailers sort of advertised this as a romantic thriller. After the first episode, I was expecting this to be like the Before Sunset

Sorry, folks. I know you think everything is about you, that you should have an opinion on literally everything...but not everything is about you or for your consumption.

Oh, and Richard, fuck off as always with your faux ally ass.

The father of a friend of Don Cheadle was on a golf outing with Trump when he was overheard asking the guys, “Have you ever fucked a...” And my BF and I misremembered the exact quote earlier when we posted it - he actually said, “Have you ever fucked a n*****?” It’s difficult to keep them all straight, you know.

I’m just glad he didn’t tack “son” or “boy” on the end.

Life-long, card-carrying black person here. I. Do. Not. Care. And no lies were told.

Not happy for sure. But at least he addressed it and apologized for it. Trump says something horrible every hour 24/7 and has never apologized for anything. In fact, he doubles down.

So we either get “you ain’t black!” with a bumbling apology, or “look at my African American over there/have you ever fucked a black b****?” with nothing close to an apology. Perhaps quarantine would be a good time to try that meth I’ve been hearing so much about.
