I haven't read the books so this was a complete shock to me. The brutality of it was just staggering.

Totally agree. Rubicon was right up there with Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead yet it gets cancelled after one season and The Killing and Hell on Wheels gets (at least) three seasons. I don't get it.

On another note I have to wonder if NBC's full season pickup for the show demonstrates just how desperate they are.
