Think of who buys the camry though. I don't think a 65 year old grandfather would want a Turbo AWD Manual Compact, but rather a refined, cheap to maintain, easy to drive, mid-size sedan. Just because we want WRX, doesn't mean everyone else does.
It's just the Haterade they've been drinking. Some people need to realize that driving a Camry doesn't mean you can't love tyre-burning, engine-rumbling sports cars. Sometimes you just want a car to bring you from one place to another efficiently, fast and safe. And Toyota has brought it perfectly.
True Story:
The X-Type doesn't suck. It's not as good as some of the competition, but it was a good car in its own right.
What is wrong with a car that is built to go to A to B cheaply and efficiently. It does it's job at being basic transport, and not terribly. I don't get why everyone is so entitled here, not everyone wants V8, AWD, Turbo, RWD, etc. etc. It's one of the best DDs out there.
I've argued this before and I'll continue to argue it: The Camry is not a bad car. It's a boring, beige, underwhelming car. But it isn't bad. By and large a Camry won't strand you next to the highway with fluids draining out of it and smoke billowing from the hood. A Camry won't cost you an arm and a leg in…
Nissan GTR. Just hear me out, okay?
I'm very much like that, at least for other people. For stuff that I personally do and say, it's dust in the wind. I can remember comments, pictures, object, etc, in terms of their color and orientation, but not exactly where or when I saw them. It makes for a tough work life to say "You told me to do that several…
How in the hell did you find this post? I guess I should keep my word. I will sell at least half of it in the next few days. Promise. Thanks for the sanity check.
Ah, I see your point and agree with your thesis.
Everything you say is true. But the only thing manual steering gives up to the assisted variety in a very lightweight car, is the opportunity to use an automatic dampening effect at speed. Otherwise, there is no advantage. Only the disadvantage of weight. Which can be considerable.
I'll certainly agree with you that manual steering isn't inherently "better" than a good power steering rack, and power steering is certainly more accessible and usable. But I like the lack of power steering on the Alfa 4C. It's part of the car's novelty, it sets it apart from its competitors, it offers a potentially…
The 4C shouldn't need assisted steering because there isn't 70% of the car's weight located on the front wheels. It would just be pointless to add, that's all.
The Medway Queen was one of the many civilian ships used to evacuate the French and British soldiers trapped on the beaches as a part of Operation Dynamo. Fitted with a 12 pounder and 2 machine guns she managed to down 3 German aircraft while rescuing 7000 men in 7 trips in and out of the fire zone. Afterwards she…
