I was certainly guilty of the "chef's knife trap" when I got into cooking. A cool gizmo to obsess over. But the reality is, you use a wooden spoon and metal tasting spoon WAAAAYYYY more than your chef's knife. I wonder why more people don't focus on getting the best of those. That and a towel.
