In my opinion, I count this commercial as the "Newcomer Trailer" reveal for the Mii Fighter (in terms of cinematics, production value, and consistent animation style). I had forgotten about the Reggie vs. Iwata "reveal," but that doesn't have the same Newcomer trailer consistency.

Ever since his reveal, I always thought Pangoro's design was inspired by two Rival Schools characters: Daigo Kazama and Hayato Nekketsu. Drawing from Daigo's outfit and attitude and Hayato's piece of straw in his mouth! Daigo also is a gang leader, which could lend to Pangoro's Dark Typing!
