As a (somewhat) conservative who lives in a very progressive area, I think it’s important to occasionally remind ourselves that there’s a broad spectrum of opinion on almost every issue. The world isn’t cleanly divided into camps where progressive people “believe” in climate change and conservatives “don’t believe” in

We don't (yet) have enough satellite bandwidth to transmit dozens of streams of 360º video simultaneously. There's also the fear of jamming/hacking the remote control system, which could be devastating if we moved to an all-unmanned force.

At least in the private sector, companies cannot borrow from the fund. This is one of the reasons companies are getting rid of pensions — if it turns out you put in too little money, you get penalized and have to put in more, but if it turns out you put in too much money, you cannot get it out, so they tend to err on

"brian_nec USPS is failing because a 2006 Republican congress forced them to fund their pensions through the next 75 years. No other company or govt agency has to reach that benchmark. It was a move to destroy them."

If you read brian_nec's original post, it sounds like he is angry about the concept of prefunding at all. I agree that 10 years is too short.

Contrary to popular belief, the "75-year" and "not-even-born-yet" talking points are untrue:
"Contrary to statements made by some employee groups and other stakeholders, PAEA did

There are multiple issues at stake here, which always get muddled:
1) The USPS is required to fully pre-fund its pensions. Other companies and government agencies are also required to pre-fund pensions, although they have (somewhat) more flexibility in how to do so. Government agencies in particular are lax about doing

I believe you're referring to the famous speech he gave on the role of the press.

If you actually read the entire speech, it's clear he's referring to Communism, not some kind of secret tinfoil-hat conspiracy.
