Realistically somebody who digs ditches probably doesn’t pay much in taxes (after filing). The middle and upper classes are the people who pay taxes. I’d rather “my tax dollars” go toward wiping my loans—allowing me to participate in our 70% consumer economy—than to fossil fuel subsidies or some war somewhere else.
