Literally no doubt about the rule in that situation: Injured player’s team MUST control the puck before a whistle is blown for a stoppage of play. Keep blaming the officials, though, I’m sure that will make it feel better after the inevitable Game 5 blow-out.

Bonino took one to the face, no whistle... I don’t see where the problem is. The rule states that whistle can’t be blown until the injured player’s team has control of the puck. Which in this case they didn’t, it was a good goal.
