From a purely marketing standpoint, not sure if this is a smart move. Ubuntu gets a lot of buzz every six months as the Internet starts talking about what's new in the latest release. It's something people look for without being told to look for it. Dropping the release schedule will make it harder for them to

I spent three years trying to get a new job with no luck. Last May, I created a simple blog to showcase what I was working on, and the next month, I had a much better job.

Yeah, this is pretty ho-hum to anyone who's beaten the game. Just get the missing D'ni book page, put the pattern into the fireplace and voila.

@seancron: I was just about to ask the same question. Good to know.

Would love to give this a try see if it really cuts through nutrition info obfuscation. Is there an Android version or equivalent?

I like this a lot. It would be cool if you also tie it to a wallpaper selection.

I've heard this referred to as the halo effect. When you think a place has a healthy selection, it puts a halo on everything they have and makes you think it's all good.

@timwis: I'd really like that feature too, but for different reasons. If I need to find out where a letter is, I just drag my finger somewhere else on the screen. As long as I backtrack without going back through the middle, I'm fine.

I'm participating with the local Iowa City group, which is suprisingly well-organized. I just moved to the city, so it's been a great way to meet new people in the town with similar interests.

I don't think I've had any more ridiculous good-time fun than I did with Sven's Coop for the original Half-Life. These days, online co-op is a given, but back then it was unheard of.

So no one sees the irony of him wanting to make something wholly Japanese, and then basing his game around the apocrypha of a western religion?

Wow, you weren't kidding about it being Evil Week.

I'm really surprised, given what I thought I knew about the Lifehacker demographic to see "yes" is winning.

Glad I got in early for PlayOn, so I don't need to find room on my shelf for this.

I've been doing this since last June when my roommate moved out. The DirecTV in the house was in his name and he paid $90 plus a month since he was a sports guy.

@Rick B: That does seem odd, but at the same time, I rarely if ever use the Facebook messaging system. If I have a message that I want to go to only one person, I would say e-mail, text message or even snail mail is a better way to get their attention.

@NotMandatory: Does it actually index the stores, or is it crowdsourced? I can't find a way to point out mistakes if it's the latter.

Has anyone had issues with it being wrong? I just looked for my next book club book, The City and The City by China Mieville, and it said it wasn't available anywhere. A quick google showed it was avaialble *everywhere*.

I'm looking for an RSS solution for Android that I can leave on the screen while I'm working and will automatically scroll through the feeds as they update. That way I can glance over at it and quickly see the latest headlines.

@Joe: If you have e-mail notifications turned on, you can reply to comments with your e-mail. That's how I survive with Facebook blocked during work hours by Chrome Nanny. I don't know if email reply works for messages or not, but if it does, that could be your solution.
