I can’t be alone in having a neutral opinion on Trump before he ran for office. I didn’t know about his dad or his own slum lord origins, or the ad he took out against the Central Park 5. He was just the dude with the “You’re fired!” catchphrase to me (and I was vaguely aware he’d been married several times).

“Relevant” is pretty subjective, but it does seem like even with the guys you mentioned, there was a pretty obvious time frame where most of the records they’re going to be remembered for were made. If you ask someone who’s 25-30 to name a Bowie song, I’d bet it’s at least three times more likely that, if they can do

The issue is, 8 people were removed from the flight for smelling bad and 8 of the 8 were african american. The odds seem low that 8 passengers who just happened to be african american also just happened to be the only people who had an offensive smell on this flight.

Yep, this right here was the first thing to pop into my mind. Would any other truck struggle? Of course. But Daddy Elon said this one could!

He SPECIFICALLY said it could serve briefly as a boat and ford river AND SEAS.

This is true, however what makes this newsworthy is that Elon Musk specifically said that the Cybertruck could ford rivers AND EVEN SEAS THAT ARENT TOO CHOPPY.

That is true, but this thing was billed as a SUPER CAPABLE truck that could withstand the apocalypse if I am not mistaken.

Yeah... maybe not exactly the right word, but it’ll work.  :)

It’s a platform that’s not used or shared with any other car (now).

Not a bad answer though I’m curious what you mean by “bespoke,” which usually means custom made.

There isn’t one answer to this question. Even at the time when Cadillac was the “standard of the world” that was primarily for luxury cars. Ferrari or Porsche, then as now, would have been the “standard of the world” for sports cars.

He did say once-upon-a-time. Cadillac was “The Standard of the World” back when Toyota was in diapers.

Mazda.

I’d go with Mazda. They still have the most Japanese mix in their vehicles. Decent all-around vehicles.

Lexus.  Like Toyota only fancier, more comfortable, more reliable, etc.  There are more layers of corrosion protection, paint and clearcoat than what you find on other manufacturers (find a 20 year old Lexus and just try to find rust on the body).  They run for decades longer than other cars, again, go take a 20 year

How is this not exactly what you just described?

You’re right about what Cadillac really is, but I disagree with you. I think this does represent Cadillac. I mean sure, Cadillac could have kept making those insanely large sedans that were awesome, but then they would have gone out of business long ago because they wouldn’t sell anymore. This is a modern version of

This is the correct take. The Escalade is massive, gaudy, luxurious as hell and tailor-made for people who want to be seen. Doesn’t matter that it doesn’t come in pink or have tailfins. It does the job just fine.

Everything you wrote about what Cadillac should be sums up the Escalade.
