The understanding was that if anything happens to Dany, her dragons burn the Lannisters, the Red Keep, King’s Landing plus as much of Westeros as possible, and the Dothraki raze the rest. Not really the “right thing” that Day wants, but a pretty good insurance policy.
The council of Elrond is in the Fellowship of the Ring, so the abbreviation is perfectly cromulent.
I really enjoyed the WWII bits of Cryptonomicon, which is exactly half the chapters in the book.
I love the Baroque Cycle! I don’t think I’ve read a set of books which were both so huge and un-put-downable at the same time.
You make good points. In the last 6 months we binge watched Mad Men and Buffy from the very start as newbies, and part of the pleasure of that binge was reading over the AVClub’s reviews, which are over a decade old in some cases.
Pros: Can still comment. No crappy taboola ads (yet). Comments load faster (on PC). Don’t have to have twitter account etc.
“Who are you?”
"I was stabbed to death by mutinous Night Watch brothers."
Keep trying dammit!
Surely no reason why you can't keep the avatar?
Just one, or four together?
Just finished watching the whole series for the first time, and I've been following these write ups episode by episode. It's been great if odd, given that these reviews have been a few years old, but each describing an episode that most commenters had already seen some years prior to that.
Yep, I just watched through the entire series for the first time thanks to ScyFy showing the 20th anniversary run through (heavily censored, annoyingly).
And a royal armourer has gone missing, presumed kidnapped!
Agreed. I think Jon's group will get to the north pole, to find Sam already sitting on a trussed-up Wight reading about bowel movements.
All the smallfolk who supported the cult, and hated the queen the most, were clustered in or around the Sept to watch her get her comeuppance, and got vapourised with it when it blew.
"Get out, and take your 'Prince Ragger' celebrity bullshit magazine with you! I have work to do!"
Sam is aware that Jon's parentage is a mystery; or at least that Jon has no idea who his mum was. Pretty sure that conversation has come up on screen back in the early days.
Does he though? That cupbearer scene was played for the tension of him being on the verge of recognising her in Tywin's presence, but (it appears) he was distracted just before he could recognise her.
