When I was small, I lived through a cat5 hurricane. Salvation Army were the only people there helping us for about five days, they were there before the government, the Red Cross, or anybody else showed up. It’s my understanding that the same thing was true when Katrina hit the small town I grew up in. Someone

I don’t know how much a re-sole costs, but the $125 is for a recrafting, for which they completely disassemble the shoe and rebuild it around the last (the last is the wooden foot-shape on which it was originally fabricated). It’s basically a new shoe at that point, not just a re-sole. Resoling can be done at just

I’ve always been a fan of the adage that never skimp on things that come between you and the ground: beds, shoes, and tires.

This is complete bullshit. I was a professor for twenty-five years and never received a kickback on any textbook-with-access-code I assigned. Nor did any of my colleagues.

Having taught a few calculus classes that have used online access codes I can tell you that, no I do not “get a cut” but yes I am “poorly paid.”

The reason I’ve used the online material is because I have found (in my years of teaching) that it is extremely important for students to stay up to date with the course

A fairly big point. I got Canon primarily because the Yearbook and Photography teachers at the school I work out use Canon gear, so when I do photos at school functions I have a lot of lenses and accessories to work with.

I agree 100% on this as I have a Canon camera (started with Canon in ‘96) and I wish I had a Nikon because my cousin took up photography and now has a ton of gear that I can’t borrow knowing he would let me.

Also I don’t trust the “it’s the photographer” saying all the time. If that was the case then every photographer

There was a time in this country where our politicians were open to compromises. We will see if that time has passed.

Bruce had only insured the package for roughly one third of its cost to Dahm in order to save himself money on shipping and customs costs.

Brakes aren’t a switch. You don’t slam on them at every turn, you apply them progressively and gradually. Better brake pads eliminate fade and give you a more consistent pedal feel. You can fry your brakes without coming close to locking up the tires if your pads are crap.

Odds are you’re a worse driver than your car is a bad car.

I did this after college. Couldn’t find anything in my field. I applied for jobs every day for a month. Eventually I decided to walk into the local office for which my degree pertained to and volunteered with them for 2 months or so.

I wish the same. The problem was twofold- 1) MS totally bungled the announcement and positioned the feature terribly. Rather than people looking at it as an advantage(which it was) it created a backlash. 2) A bunch of terribly immature gamers who have a complete inability to look at features rationally.

Regards to #1, can we tell truckers that if they’re not passing another truck at a reasonable speed, don’t even bother? Too many times I’ve driven where a trucker going 55 gets passed by another truck going 56-57. On a two lane highway.

I agree; however, the added “1 sheet” constraint forces you to think about how the information fits together more deeply.

I like the analogy of telling your friends about what happened during a movie you just saw. If you wanted to give them a good overview, you wouldn’t copy down the dialogue, and try to remember
