Look - Pew is very reputable, and they come up with a number less than half what this more liberal policy oriented group came up with while controlling for less factors. They note that the biggest factor they saw was women taking breaks from the workplace. The most common reason for workplace breaks is children. What

I have to say - the Honda Odyssey is better than I would expect. My wife has one, and it actually has good power and a quite reactive transmission.

One other thing to consider is whether you intend to leave money to your kids and/or charity. If you have a pension then for as long as you (and probably your spouse) are alive you will receive a payout, but the moment you die the money dries up. If you live longer than average, you may come out ahead, but if you (and

I think there are 2 very different ideas at play here that aren’t being well separated (probably my fault) - our ability to identify moral values, and whether those moral values are objective.

A couple thoughts:

The $50 for the 20V hand vac is awesome. I paid more for mine and still love it a couple years later. Powerful, long battery, and easy charging base. If you’re looking for a hand vac you can get better if you spend $100s on a Dyson (too much for my budget), but at that price there is no reason to consider a $30 model

Please tell me what in that quote is wrong? If it was sent by anyone but trump, what would be the cause for concern?

Today yes. I have had an iPhone, iPad, and/or iPod for over a decade and needed a total of 2 different cables in that window. That cable was the same for years before I got my first iPod, and there are only rumors it might change in the next couple years. Yes, they are more expensive, but how many years ago did you

Not really a fair comparison - apple has had a total of 2 connector (30 pin then lightening) during the same timeframe that other devices went from USB-A to mini-USB to micro-USB to USB 3.0 to USB-C. That is 5 standards in a span apple has had 2. We can get technical about USB vs FireWire 30 pin (really a half-step

Coinstar is my preferred way to go for 2 reason:

Here is my problem - no economic incentive for a poor or middle class individual to vote no on a wasteful spending measure that doesn’t tax them.

Aside from the concerns of whether it is right to decide what someone else does with their money I have a more general concern - the disconnect between cost of an item and decisions about whether it is worth it. I think it is fair that wealthy get taxed more in total dollars, but take issue with taxes that only apply

I did read the article, and want to point out a few quotes I find relevant:

Good to hear from you – sorry for my length, and no rush on getting back

At my kids current ages (1 1/2 and almost 4) it is sufficient to teach them - that person was not nice to the other person and that is wrong. Probably a few years from now it will include that some people are mean to each other for things that don’t matter - like the color of their skin or their gender. Eventually

Tough situation. I tend to talk to my kids in terms of decisions being good or bad rather than people, but they operate in such black and white. Plus, I want them to be able to infer from me telling them the truth 10 times in a row that I’ll probably tell the truth next time, and from the fact that the kid on the

A valid point, but I would give one distinction: my kids are currently very young (under 5). I want my kids to have the first and most fundamental things they identify about people to be something other than race. As they grow and learn about history and culture I intend to teach them about race on all manner of

I agree with Regina - and being intentional is probably the most important thing you can do. No one is ever able to be perfect with their kids, but finding a balance and knowing where your tendencies might give your kids an impression or stereotype you don’t want them to embrace is the best you can do. I’ve got kids

A very good question. Often by omission you can have an impact over time, especially if those who engage in the stereotyping are outnumbered by those who do not, but sometimes you just have to come out and be a little forceful saying you don’t find making fun of someone else based on their skin color funny.

These are good ideas, and I would encourage one more - they also apply to individuals with disabilities in terms of stereotypes they assume about themselves. My youngest daughter was just diagnosed with a genetic disorder that causes a range of mental and physical disabilities and even though she is not even 2 it was
