Thanks for providing only 2 dimly lighted photos to let us guess at the real appearance.

Those are one-plane-at-a -time time trials, generally over water, using far less expensive aircraft, with the basic cost of the events underwritten by a very rich sponsor, Red Bull. This is kind of like the difference between the Pike’s Peak time trials and the Rolex 24 sports car race. With only one plane flying at a

If it is point-to-point, it would be like the Bendix Trophy races of the 1920's-50's. In today’s world,  without a closed circuit and grandstands, how would you arrange for enough paying spectators to watch it to cover the costs?

Did you actually drive any of the early models on a track? The only “sawing” I ever witnessed was on the 356 swing-axle Porsches. It was not a problem with my 1967 model.

Takeaway - A new concept for vehicle construction, where sub-assemblies are fully built before being merged into one vehicle.

Something that many pundits seem to be overlooking is that Tesla has reduced the cost of manufacturing their cars by building them of fewer, larger components, such as castings. This makes them faster and less expensive to manufacture, but extremely difficult to repair if damaged. There have been articles about how

I used these cans and spouts for many years before they produced plastic bottles with twist-off caps and never had a problem. These days I have talked with men(?) who don’t even know how to change a tire on their own cars.

So do like boomers did years ago - buy a used car. Who said these folks are ENTITLED to have expensive new cars? I drove used cars for years before I could AFFORD a new one.

Kinda like on U.S. airliners, where the seat width for the past many decades has been about 17 inches (defined by the fuselage size of Boeing aircraft with 6-abreast seating) while Americans have ballooned to much greater widths and are bitterly complaining that the seat widths have not grown with them.

That is because the rail cars are just set on top of the axles with semi-circular bearing journals. The axles are not fastened to the rail cars.

But it is kinda hard to carry a small, spare EV battery with you, or even keep one in the garage.

Why would the Jetta be preferable to a similarly equipped Honda or Toyota, both of which are more reliable?

It is interesting that the first article listed to follow this one is titled “It Took 6,000 Gallons of Water to Extinguish This Burning Tesla”. Talk with your local fire department about the difference between extinguishing a fire in an ICW vehicle versus and EV vehicle. Note also the article about how insurance

But that was 20-30 years ago, and 10's of thousands of dollars ago.

One of the tragic losses was the Navy’s destruction of all of the Martin P6M Seamaster jet flying boat bombers. It was a beautiful and very capable plane and, for its day, the fastest low-level bomber, faster than the B-52 at low level.

There is an actual Sea Dart as a gate guardian at the Lakeland Lindner (Florida) airport.

Who cares?

Re: Hoovie’s experience. How far will it ACTUALLY tow a trailer. It’s gotta be better than his F-150 Lightning  experience, or it’s just a massively oversized sedan.

Does it have a lockout to prevent use of the infotainment system when the car is in motion, or do you get to play the games and watch movies while you are supposed to be driving the car?

Performance-wise, the Prowler was decidedly NOT a hot rod.
