I had just written a tutorial for doing split toning in GIMP that might illustrate the effect I think this challenge is about (or maybe help those just trying it out?)

Shameless plug

The dark halo being described (to be fair, this was shot with a diy homemade ring created from a couple of bowls from a dollar store...)

You can, of course, let your lawmakers know you have no interest in supporting this:

Oh god I wish I could give you another star! Almost made me choke on my coffee...

Seriously:

Grados look bad?

Now playing

Queen already did it, and unless it's a freakish 80-minute-freebird-style video based on Radio GaGa, I'm not interested :)

I think visualization in this case does nothing to help you get to what you need as efficiently as possible (ie: file size on disk).

Or something slightly more compact...

+1, this is absolutely true. Credibility begins to erode pretty quick when you swing and miss on a fundamental fact like this. (Hell, < 5 mins. of research would have cleared this up for you).

Other than 16-bit vs. 8-bit or CMYK arguments? For a non-professional, no difference. Even for a semi-pro: unless you are absolutely going to have your work printed with strict color profiles requirements? No difference.

seriouseats has a fantastic empirical approach to perfect soft/hard boiled eggs based on egg size, volume of water, and adjusting for your stovetop output:

Holy hell, quadruple digits! Where do you live, Venus? (scratch that - Venus doesn't even get to quadruple temp. digits)...

+1 all the way. I've had my 125's for years, and you just can't go wrong.

Eh, neat stuff, but go check out Joshua Hoffine's work:

Wonder why my submission isn't even in the final gallery? Did it not qualify for some reason?

Just a thought, but a great show of support for Matt would be (plug ahead):

Mmmm, lobster roll at the union oyster house in boston.... droool
