Quality-wise, I view Bojack in the same arc as The Simpsons. Sure, that first season was a little rough, but I view Season 5 of Bojack to be almost as good as Season 5 of The Simpsons. However, there are enough pieces to really pull together a meaningful season 6, especially if Waksberg keeps leaning on his incredibly

I saw this around the same time I was wrestling with coming out to my friends. It’d be nearly another decade before I did so with my family.

No, I think it’s safe to say that fact is assumed for the average AV Club reader.

Three million in a weekend. Which is about twice what Transformers:The Movie grossed in its 1986 opening weekend. And that movie is coming back in theaters on Thursday. The civic responsibility part of me thinks I should catch 11/9, but the “I need to escape the bullshit that is life today” part of me thinks I need to

Personality-wise, some people may be sick of Moore, but what he talks about - people overwhelmingly agree with - e.g. there should be accountability for the Flint water crisis, preexisting conditions should be covered for all insurance plans, and more should be done to address the staggering increase of income

True - it just doesn’t give you that self-righteous jolt of saving a poor, downtrodden person from a prison sentence. And yes, there’s usually a financial price to pay for taking a standard “benevolent” position. Imagine a world where teachers, social workers, and investigative reporters made the same bank as hedge

I love how the creators always play the long game in this show. e.g. when Bojack goes on a View-like show and says “choking women is wrong!” - he actually gets applause - a view that is such a “no s**t, Sherlock” statement - however, in the second to last episode, he does just that.

I absolutely loved this season, and I think it’s the show’s strongest season yet. I realize Brie’s casting as Diane will always be a thorny issue, but her vocal performance in this season is so devastating, that I can’t see any person other than Brie playing her. Her story about her “best” friend at the end of the

Kudos to Gilligan for again subverting audience expectations. Even the most patient of Saul viewers is curious as to why Kim’s not in the picture in Breaking Bad. And this seemed like the perfect arc to tear an irreconcilable path between Jimmy and Kim. Kim sacrifices her time, her position at Mesa Verde, and her own

Excessive exposure to bleach can impair thinking.

This was probably the most consistently solid season of Bojack Horseman. Mr. Fondle was the only exception. I know it fits right into Todd’s character, and the series’ mix of lowbrow humor with their more highbrow assessments of depression, celebrity, and the overall definition of what makes a “good” person.

Bojack deserves all the blame in this episode. Every iota of it.

Not too sure how many episodes they’ve filmed for Philbert: Season 2, but much like True Detective, Season 1 was a well-received - primarily because Diane reigned in Flip’s egomania. And now, Season 2 will likely be this unfiltered “what the fuck?” mess of incomprehension.

Princess Carolyn and Ralph’s relationship is almost too painful to watch sometimes. Chappell is spot-on when he talks about the chemistry between Sedaris and Esparaza. Despite not seeing her in months, he gives an understanding shrug when PC’s phone goes off midway during dinner. It’s a horrible habit of PC’s, but he

I liked this episode - would put this in the B+ to A- category. Yeah, it was frantic, and at the end, my eyes were tired from just trying to keep up with all the puns going on in the background, while listening to the story.

And finish it off by doing a “animated short” at the end, by screening the Season 3 episode of “Dark Awakening” - where they DO bring back Optimus Prime (albeit in decayed zombie form) - only to REALLY kill him off again in front of kids’ eyes by virtually vaporizing him.

I refused to see this movie in the theater, because I just graduated from sixth grade, and was headed into junior high territory. And as a 12-year-old, I thought I was too old to be seeing stuff like this. Even though I was REALLY curious as to who would win in the “fight to the death” between Optimus and Megatron.

Then fucking take it back. That asshole has taken enough.

Castlevania II has the honor of having the easiest final boss I’ve ever fought in a video game.

I decided to start reading Hanya Yanagihara’s A Little Life the same weekend Season 5 of Bojack Horseman dropped. After watching the “Free Churro” episode, I’m convinced enduring that 30 minutes justifies taking a sick day from work.
