*writes down* King...Gizz...ard...

Budget-wise, I’m keeping this week to $30, so I’m buying the Sharon Jones and Mavis Staples albums. Will probably wait to next week for the Charlotte Gainsbourg album.

Who to hate more: Gene Simmons or Fox News? I guess I’ll still have to go with Fox News, given that half of the voting population still considers everything that comes from this network as gospel truth. The worse Gene Simmons has done (other than his rampant, detestable sexism) is release a lot of shitty work.

It’s definitely not my favorite, given there are so many amazing tracks on that album. I still think it’s a necessary song on the album, even though on the first listen, it was one of the most jarring contrasts (to other songs) I’ve ever heard on an album.

Looking forward to adding more music to my collection today: new Mavis Staples and new Sharon Jones.

Nice summation. For me, it’s Post>Homogenic>Debut>Vulnicura ... then a pretty steep drop-off with Vespertine>Medulla>Volta

I got the notification that ‘best albums of 2017' picks are due this coming Monday, so, regrettably, I’m not going to be able to put in the new Mavis Staples record before hearing it. That aside, it’s been a 2017-heavy week of music-listening, such as:

Very cool - if you’re up for ME3 multiplayer, just message me your handle (I’m on XBox360 though, not too sure if you’re on PS3).

I’m not much of an online multiplayer, but I absolutely love Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, and would be totally game for wiping out waves of baddies.

“If neither Beck nor Weezer seem especially “relevant” in 2017, well, the same goes for a lot of their fans.”

After I heard this asshat complain that he would have to raise the price of his pizzas by $0.15 to provide his employees healthcare, I vowed I would never eat another Papa John’s pizza. So, maybe one reason you’re losing money is because there could be other like-minded people out there who have done something

Discovery-wise, Fever Ray’s trajectory reminds me of how I felt when I was listening to Bjork during her ‘90s solo output. This feels very much like her Homogenic, but obviously it’s her own - and god willing if I’m on this earth for another 20 years, I’m looking forward to saying another another trailblazing artist

With this and Zelda, it’s getting pretty close to making a Switch an essential purchase. Throw in a great Metroid game, and I’m pretty much set. Only thing, of course, is money. As much as I want this, I keep thinking of all of the people who were scooping up Wiis for $500 during their heyday - and now, I’m pretty

Did you get the feeling (however valid or invalid) that after a few songs, you thought “I remember hearing this when The Streets broke big.”?

I love how King Krule seems to be one of these polarizing bands right now. It appears that most critics don’t think it’s a good album: it’s either an amazing album (see Pitchfork) or utter crap (The Needle Drop). And not much in the middle.

But they have Octopussy

I tried. But the beginning candy gag just didn’t elicit any laugh from me, especially after a stellar Bob’s Burgers episode. Turned it off after the first 5 minutes.

Agreed - I do have the ‘essentials’: Destroyer’s Rubies, Kaputt, Poison Season. But I definitely categories his work as “art rock” - not necessarily sound-wise, but just the concept - that it’s easier to admire than to love. I always feel like I’m observing Destroyer from afar at a roped-off distance. Contrast that

Two albums I listened to on a plane - so background noise sort of muddled their effect - will want to listen to both again:

It’s been raining, so, I’ve been playing the first Shadow game (Shadow of Mordor) on the xbox 360. Music-wise, my wallet took a beating this “Super Friday” with releases from St. Vincent and Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile. But I also bought Telela’s Take Me Apart, and Tyco’s Metric.
