Up-voted for the Elbow and the Rush things
Sure ... thanks!
Looking forward to Bojack Horseman this week.
Likewise - but I also hate spending 15 minutes to expand the comment section to get the full thread.
Yeah. What’s up with that?
It’s weird - for a person most famous for “Lean on Me” - most of the songs on that collection were some of the most beautiful lamentations on depression I’ve ever heard.
Kamasi Washington will definitely get a purchase. As for LCD Soundsystem, I’m going to try to exercise some financial restraint this week and going to try for the month of September, but it’s going to be difficult. As for LCD Soundsystem, will most likely give it a try - but to revisit another AVC thread, This is…
verdict?
I had to travel to Salt Lake City, so I got a chance to listen to a few double albums on my way as part of my ‘listen to each album you acquire at least twice’ project. This week:
Rick telling Morty’s classmates “Everybody f**k off” has to be one of the best tossed-away deliveries I’ve heard this side of Artie from The Larry Sanders Show.
Yeah, that was one of the best freak-outs captured on television in recent memory.
I fell in love with Bojack Horseman - hard last summer. So much so that I made it a mission to get everyone I knew to give the second episode a try (Bojack Hates The Troops). I thought that one had the best balance of general jokes and good character development. Unfortunately, my best friend is hyper critical. He…
Also, thank you AV Club for now playing a goddamn ad every time I refresh the comments section - alerting anyone in the office in the process. I know there’s software to block that kind of shit from happening, but it used to be I didn’t have to worry about that when I was on AVC.
And damnit, AV Club, if you’re going to write about Transformers and reference Optimus Prime’s death, have the decency to at least make the teaser photograph the Gen-1 animated Prime and not the Michael Bay monstrosity.
I had to do a ‘search’ just in case I doubled-up on the comments - and thanks to the new system, it took me practically an hour to do that just for 100 comments.
“Dark Awakening” was downright scarring - essentially the writers telling the kids “No, we’re not bringing Optimus Prime back - in fact, to prove this point, we’re going to reanimate his corpse, and have him nearly kill off the Autobots, and then in a final act of heroism, we’re going to blow him to atoms” - only to…
Looks like a stellar week for releases, but if given the choice, I’d probably pick up EMA’s latest over the new War on Drugs - though both will likely be acquisitions.
That’s the one I have! - I’ve been meaning to give it another shot.
I’ve purchased about 3 QOTSA albums, but honestly - with the exception of Rated R (which is a goddamn masterpiece), everything else has gone on the “one listen” pile.
Doing the usual ‘listen to each album you acquire at least twice’ initiative - along with a Maha music festival-themed list of albums this week:
