Personally I thought the CVT is superior to the 5AT they could have ripped out of the Civic. The problem with that combination is that the low amount of torque (plus the high RPM for peak torque, something like 4300rpm for a whopping 129ft-lb) means the car takes a LONGGGGGG time to get into the meat of the powerband…

Keep in mind it’s for Asia, so it’s probably equivalent to more like 3 American adults and 1 kid ;).

I test drove one. With just two people in the car, it was fine, if not a little underpowered. With a car loaded with 4 adults, it was very underpowered. But I guess that’s what happens when you take a 10 year old torqueless engine out of the Civic and add 300 pounds + more cargo room for even more stuff to haul.
