I think this is to enhance engine/intake noise, not exhaust noise.

Exhaust note != engine note. The VQ exhaust note is the bees knees, but the sound that the engine makes (in particular the VQ37) isn’t particularly good.

I like the exhaust note, but the sound the VQ37 motor itself makes sounds like it belongs in a truck.

It’s the baby NSX in the sense that both are vaporware.

Raise your hand if you didn’t see this coming.

By the time the Type R rolls around we’ll probably have hover cars :p.

Please let them build a QRS3 to compete against the GLA45.

I think another aspect is that the versatility of a hatchback becomes redundant as people grow older because they’ll likely have an SUV or minivan in their stable once kids come around. Suddenly all the practical reasons to get a hatchback over a sedan goes out the window.

I’m thinking even if they aren’t able to put more butts into the seat of the RS3, it might bring more cachet to the A3 line. It could become a halo car that doesn’t necessarily sell well (maybe even become a loss leader) but brings folks into the dealerships and get them excited.

True, but I’m not sure how many people with $60K in their pockets would also want something based on a $30K “luxury” car built for image-conscious whippersnappers.

True, but I wonder how well an RS3 will sell. I see a metric ton of A3’s on the road (mostly driven by folks who really wanted the 4 rings on the front of their cars), but I’ve seen just one S3. This is in LA, where you can see virtually any car made under the sun. This past month I’ve seen more Deloreans and Renault

If the RS3 were a hatchback or wagon I’d easily get the RS3. The main issue I see with a sedan RS3 is that it’s a tad small for my liking, which means the only reason I’d be getting one over the RS4 (if there was an RS4) is because it’s cheaper than than RS4.

I’m thinking it’s unlikely the CTR will be under 35K. Sure, it doesn’t have the AWD setup that the RS does, but the RS has the advantage of utilizing an engine that is produced in far greater quantities (AFAIK it’s the same engine used in the MKC, Mustang, and new Explorer). Considering the limited usage of the old

NOT including taxes, dealer/finance fees, destination charges...

The lack of any sources cited makes me believe this is a really mean April Fools joke.

Playing devil's advocate here, but why not take it a step further and advocate for automakers to go back to petcocks and replace fuel gauges? Fuel sensors can fail (my old RX7 would either be at 3/4 full or empty), whereas with a trust mechanical petcock you'll know when you're running on reserve.

That's code for "go to bimmerpost or bimmerforums".

But I'm 26. I can't buy a $40k car. My Dad bought his BMW in 1974 for $5k, which was a lot then, but not impossible for him.

ohm y god that was hilarious

The sad thing is even if the state makes an example out of these pieces of shit, all the "badasses" out there will still keep racing because they all think they're Ken Block and won't crash.
