Yeah, I'm thinking about turning while either on power (either accelerating or driving at a constant speed). But you're right, if on the brakes (engine breaking aside), it doesn't matter how power is delivered.

I can't say I've driven an AWD and non-AWD variant of the same cars, but anecdotally my STi turns much better on all-seasons than all my other non-AWD cars in the snow while on comparable though not the exact same tires. Placebo effect? Maybe. But I'm a believer either way.

But with the right tires, AWD will help you turn better than FWDd or RWD.

Sure they are better in the snow, but so are 6 pot Brembo brakes for stopping. Doesn't mean everyone should automatically go install BBKs cars, once you take into account the cost/benefit aspects. For a lot of people who live in areas where it only occasionally snows (and lightly at that) it makes no sense financially

Look at it this way: by building this car and selling it, the cost of building the powertrain theoretically drops.

My understanding the GLE 450 is really an AMG Sport Line car (think BMW's M-Sport or Lexus's F-Sport or Audi's S-Line). I'm not actually sure if MB is even planning to market or advertise it as an AMG car, as it doesn't even have an AMG badge on the rear. I'm a little perplexed why so many magazines and blogs are

That's part of the point. The target market that likes these cars want big cars.

Would your rather buy it over than the X6/X6M, which this is directly competing with?

Because the X6M exists and sells quite well in Asian markets.

Is the GLE 450 actually marketed as an AMG car, or AMG Sport? There doesn't appear to be an AMG emblem, and it most certainly isn't a real AMG car.

All seasons wear out fast? They have better tread life than winters and summers, so I'm not sure how it'd be cheaper to buy both a summer and winter set...

Can someone say factory donks?

Wait, how does the bottom picture make any sense? How does FWD vs RWD vs AWD impact stopping distance, if none of the drive wheels are getting any power in a braking situation? If anything AWD would be worse off due to the extra weight compared to FWD and RWD.

Looks like an Elantra

Can't have been his fault, after all, he graduated from formula racing schools. I read it right there in his post on the internet, so it must be true.

Can we start segregating people by BO?

My point is that you're only looking at the near-sighted impact of providing free access to those seats. In those examples, the financial impact is further down the line, rather than immediate. Don't you think if you could self-upgrade to those seats, some potential buyers would decide not to purchase those seats in

That's like saying if the CEO of Nike decided to say "All blacks deserve to be in jail" that it wouldn't cost the company anything because any sales impact would be "imaginary". You'd be "assuming" that black people (and others) would be offended and decide to boycott Nike. Extreme example, but sound using the same

It has an impact on future sales of those seats because folks who normally would buy those premium seats may not do so if they figure they can possibly "self-upgrade" those seats for free. Ergo, it costs the company money to let people hop into those seats for free.
