Because they are.
Because they are.
I'm just an idiot who likes old cars. These are the two I'm considering:
"Serious" IPAs taste like ram's piss. I'm good with some beligian-style IPAs like Cali-Belgique. Not so bitter.
Not all high IBU beers are necessarily as "bitter" as the next high high IBU beer.
Truth! what happened next, Raphael?
Driftwood Brewery - "Singularity" - Imperial Russian Stout.
I tend to agree that craft brewers have sometimes gone too far in embracing the hop enthusiasts' peculiar tastes. I like a good hoppy brew as much as the next guy, but enough's enough. For pretty much any beer, drinkability should trump all. An illustrative anecdote: Years ago I worked for a BJ's Brewhouse where they…
Or for the Jalop Yanks who wish to keep things domestic, there's Pizza Port's Old Viscosity. It looks like heavily used engine oil but tastes much better!
You and I have very similar tastes.
When I was barely starting my homebrewing hobby, a wise man told me "an overly-hopped beer is just covering up a bad recipe"
...he said, trying to ignore the sinking feeling in his chest as he shifts his brown W123 wagon into 'D', his foot resting on the carpet where he knew a clutch pedal should have been.
There are a huge number of IPAs; some are among my favorite beers and others leave me thinking, "Five bucks a bottle for something they squeezed out of old gym socks?!?"
the Orlove upside down beetle will never get old.
Craft IPAs (and extra hoppy beers in general) are turning into the Beats headphones of microbrews. Microbrewers have caught on that they can just hop their recipe to death, come up with a ridiculous name that plays on the word "hop" (hopocalypse, hoptimus prime, smooth hoperator, hop gun) and beer snobs will pay $20…
Apparently not. Where did the parents of these children go wrong?
I never thought I'd see the day when an air-cooled VW was not considered a good beater.
I'm with you. I like a flavorful, bitter beer, but the IPAs are just too much bitter. On the other hand, I do approve of the trend toward beers with strong flavor. Doesn't have to be obnoxiously bitter to be flavorful, IPAs just happen to be trendy at the moment. That'll change someday.
This is actually Horse Piss Beer and it isn't an IPA
SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH!
No thanks. I'll think I'll just consider the source and not waste my time reading the blatant hate.
