I’m suspect of your DOHC claim on reliability, considering the number of moving parts in an OHC engine versus an OHV engine, not to mention all those DOHC V8 engines with timing-related maintenance issues (looking at you, AUDI).

Can’t tell if bragging

I feel like a supercharged V8 Mustang with a solid rear axle and 450hp is definitely as much fun or more fun to drive than a 300hp FWD Civic.

FWIW, anyone looking for ZZR1200 parts should reach out to these guys. They used to make the T-Rex out of them, and last I knew would part out the rest of the bikes after ripping out the drivetrain.

Bent valves typically aren’t part of a normal maintenance guide.

So for the same money you could have a reliable straight-6...or Audi’s timing-chain-behind-the-god-damn-engine rattling nightmare that is the S4 V8 engine? This is a bad idea.

This is the only reason I comment on Jalopnik

The point I’m making is this is a new ILX but the engine is old. It’s a dumb point but still.

I need all of my torques around town at all times.

So your argument is, because the K24 in the new ILX has a different compression ratio than the old K24 it’s a different engine? I don’t see how that tracks, considering they’re (again) both K-series engines.

You forgot about the block, the thing that holds the pistons and crank.

You’re giving them too much credit there - the K-Series engine first came to the US in an Acura RSX, and their first recent turbo (the K23A1) was put in the Acura RDX. I don’t think they have a standard for testing new engines on Honda products alone, and to be honest I’m sure they aren’t worried about that. Since the

It’s a Honda K series. It is a fact that Honda has been producing this engine with multiple displacements and continual improvements since 2001. But let’s assume you were right (you aren’t) and this K24 engine is in no way related to the other K24 engines that are all in the same series. They’ve still been making it

I miss the straight-6 in my old car. *sigh*

Ok, we will be fair; this 17 year old engine has a head that’s 5 years old.

“its 180 lb-ft of torque peak comes at a low 3,600 RPMs”

I’ve had bad luck with CL, but Facebook Marketplace has gotten my E46 sold for what I was asking, and I offloaded a Honda Pilot with a blown engine for what I was asking as well.

I mean we have Bojangles in Maryland so really only one reason

I’ll, uh, take that Spicer 18 off your hands for you. Anything I can do to help clean up :D
