Concorde made tons of money before they had to install additional safety equipment and 9/11. They could charge what they liked and had people lining up for flights.

From your picture alone (Willys MD and Jeep TJ), there were disc brakes, automatic transmissions, chain-drive transfer cases, seatbelts, ABS, fuel injection, doors, etc.
That’s my point exactly. Yes, a newer plane is going to be more efficient, but given the frequency of flights needed for one AS2 to match the passenger capacity of a Concorde it’s a wash. Can’t I just be bitter about the lose Concorde?
And in the same sense, one would assume contributed less to pollution, as one round-trip Concorde flight would be the equivalent of 28 AS2 flights.
That may have been true for the MB and M38A1, but it’s not like the technology at the time was advanced enough for there to be an appreciable difference between a military vehicle and a civilian Jeep.
Greater efficiency? It flies slower than Concorde can can only carry 9 passengers. Concorde could carry anywhere from 92 to 128 passengers each trip. Explain how an AS2 making 14 one-way trips to a single Concorde flight is more efficient and less polluting?
Concorde flights only needed to be half-booked to turn a profit. They were making money hand-over-fist before the safety regulations were revised and extra equipment was fitted to the planes. That increased cost plus 9/11 ruined any chances for Concorde to recover the money spent on upgrading the planes.
When adjusted for inflation, a single Concorde aircraft would cost $180M today. Considering the advertised going rate for an AS2 was supposed to be $80M, then $100M, and now with Flexjet’s purchse $120M, it’s not that far off considering a Concorde can carry up to 128 passengers while an AS2 can only carry 9…
That is not true. For example, every single Jeep made today is still better looking than the CJ3B
Yes, I can see how this will benefit everyone that used to take Concorde. All those people flying for business can purchase this $100M aircraft and just expense it.
That is an excellent point.
Doing the same thing Concorde did but decades later and for fewer passengers. Wow.
Only if he can jerk off in front of her. Probably.
That 4.0l died doing what it loved best.
Every model I listed had been previously discontinued and new models were built to fill their places. The Civic has been in continuous production just like the Porsche 911. Chrysler is using the old names from their glory days to sell new cars.
Challenger, Charger, Dart...
For science, obviously.
People bitch and moan about how BMW or Porsche have lost their respective ways, but I put it to you that Ferrari has lost their way. Ferrari stopped designing cars with passion and beauty and instead started designing them with science and technology. This from the company who’s namesake said “aerodynamics are for…
