I still hold that The Old Guard would be a better TV series than a movie. Take the beats from the first movie, give each character an episode where we see how they became immortal and it’s killer TV. (An episode about Nicky and Joe would’ve been absolutely incredible.) It’s fun but could be so much better.

Yes because of the press hits and social media engagement that follows a trailer helps sustain the brand. Not because anyone needs to be told to go see it.

Or just don’t acknowledge or do some weird retcon in the next iteration—there’s not a real canon to Bond across the different portrayals. No reason to take away from Craig’s ending. Audiences will show up regardless.

That came up in the follow-up interview Handler did with Nancy Meyers. The whole conversation is an interesting read.

Other thing that needs to be factored in is that we won’t go from 0-100% capacity right away (especially in the larger markets). They’ll phase in—so even if it’s open and people rush back it’s not the same numbers. This was a perfectly smart bet for WB to place (and can always change--theaters will be so hurting for

But it’s more than just that—it’s getting people comfortable going back to theaters. Coupled with getting the vaccine out it’s pretty easy to imagine a world where releasing a movie in theaters isn’t profitable until 2022.

They’ll be back when the money is back. Even if we’re back up and running in the latter part of 2021, movie theaters won’t be at the level to make it really worthwhile until early 2022. They won’t miss out on much.

It’s not gonna be that widely administered until late fall at the earliest and that’s more than half your movie release year. Even by your optimistic assumption of August that’s your summer release schedule and I’d bet most folks give it a few months after roll-out to feel comfortable again and that puts you in

As someone who has both green chartreuse and St. Germain on my home bar—you’ll get so much more mileage out of chartreuse then St. Germain. I’ve had to restock my green chartreuse twice in the past year, and basically have never touched the St. Germain. Also, for the home bar, it’s definitely worth looking for the

Fuller talks about that more on the podcast. Basically, it’s a mix of Ira Steven Behr not giving a fuck about what Berman said, and Paramount not caring enough about DS9 to really care. Even at the time DS9 was known to be overlooked while the focus was on VOY launching the studio’s network.

Considering he plays football he’s probably 100% fine with that as that’s what players will do during the week anyway in the film room.

While part of me wishes they could just make them new characters and not have to worry about continuity the other part of me will take whatever Star Trek I can with Anson Mount.

Eh, as long as you stir it to full dilution instead of stirring half dilution or building in the glass you’re fine to serve in a coupe. I prefer it over rocks as I like how it changes as the ice melts but it’s not a sin to serve in a coupe. The shaking though does drastically change the taste of it. (But in the end if

Yeah—I was very happy to see the two Shakespearean trained actors get to do a full scene with no real Legends’ shenanigans. Definitely will rewatch that scene again just for them. (Also why I’m not 100% convinced they’re going for a love triangle and instead just wanted those two act it out.)

New Mutants is never gonna happen huh? I’m surprised that hasn’t been punted to Hulu yet.

Pretty much the entire theater laughed when Rey/Ben kissed and laughed harder when Ben force ghosted out of there. It was a dud.

My parents and a couple cousins said that over Thanksgiving. They aren’t targeting folks who read io9 morning spoilers but non-diehard moviegoers who probably don’t keep up on release schedules.

That must be what I did then. Scroll far enough and not really pay attention. My specialty.

FWIW, I had the scene play without the commentary. I don’t know how I did it but I guess it’s possible?

This made laugh because it was the exact part when I almost turned off the TV because it seemed so ridiculous. I’ll give it a couple episodes because I know so many folks who love the source material but this episode kept switching between “maybe interesting setup” to “hamfisted execution” for me to be completely
