The orange bits in an EV are always power cables. The orange silicone jacket signifies high voltage (>16V) to mechanics, as well as Fire/EMS/Police responding to an accident. There are also blue and yellow high voltage wires in cars now, depending on the electrical systems and/or voltages present.

It’s called primacord. It’s an explosive rope that is used to trigger main explosives in a detonation, and even the length of it used can control the timing of when certain charges go off.

Very cool! I lived in Kiel when these subs were being built. It was pretty cool to look out of my bathroom window during my morning ritual and see them out of the water across the Förde, and sometimes they wouldn’t be there at all.

Seriously! Though I have had more trouble connecting over bluetooth using iPhones and Android handsets than my WP Nokia, it seems like it always has more trouble syncing metadata than the other two :(
