I just finished reading "The Forever War" by Joe Haldeman. I'd say he did a pretty good job with things like this. Ships have to accelerate, crews have to deal with acceleration, plus they have to cope with changed society due to the massive time dilation involved in traveling across star systems.

re: app speed...I think your issue is with the phone. I've owned both HTC and Samsung Windows Phones and never seen any of the issues that you describe. You do know that all of these accounts can be native as part of your address book, right? I've rarely even found the need to go into the actual app to get anything…
