Alright, I’m going to take a deep breath and try to stay rational here while I explain this, because I mostly live in a permanent state of modest outrage these days. Forgive me if I come across crass:

Should have pulled a Deadspin.
And Milano replied to Teddy Boo...
So, are you willing to compromise giving up your foot instead of your entire leg, when both are wholly unnecessary and, if anything, completely ludicrous because the doctors say “you don’t have to amputate anything!”
That’s because the not-progressive Democrats fucking suck at messaging and have sacrificed their progressive base for corporate expedience.
And the leftists are to blame for the right killing health care and abortion when they were deathly against it from the very start?
Let’s not forget that a majority of the total votes cast were for liberal candidates NOT conservative ones. From POTUS down to dog catcher, the total number of votes for Ds were more than the total for Rs.
I considered it myself at one point too. I was going to buy a sail boat and take off, become completely self-sufficient and decouple my organic existence from humanity’s concept of self. Might still do it someday. But then I fell in love, got married, etc… Became probably too invested in the material world.
I don’t mean this as an insult… But if your choice is to be left alone and “stay on the sidelines” then you need to go to a place where that doesn’t drag the rest of us down.
LOL. Do you know why conservatives are kicking ass in elections? Because thanks to gerrymandering and other tricks their votes count far more than liberals’ votes.
You started out by saying, “this is bullshit” and talking about people holding onto their beliefs despite contradictory evidence being the reason for why our political environment sucks. I pointed out that that isn’t what HamNo is talking about, he’s saying that bipartisanship is a farce and should go away. You then…
Evidence is not irrelevant to all people with political beliefs; it’s irrelevant to REPUBLICANS, and that is why things are a mess. It’s been that way for 30+ years. And guess what? Evidence is also irrelevant to the people that vote for Republicans.
People should treat political policy positions as MORE important than religion, especially on topics like health care, as peoples LIVES are immediately at stake, 35,000 people a year die in the US on average from a lack of healthcare already. Policies are not just words on paper, they can be the direct cause of…
people investing their personal beliefs to such a degree that facts and evidence become irrelevant to them
I’m not talking about liberals or conservatives I’m talking about compromising on actual issues, and how many people are impacted by them.
Well fucking stated.
There’s no way to compromise with the current Republican party on those issues, while still protecting the rights of the majority if the population.
This is spectacularly self-centered and dumb. That’s your actual biggest fear?
Climate change is not a personal belief. Belief that everyone should have good healthcare for all is not a personal belief. That the wealth gap is a very bad thing for our economy is not a personal belief. The cost of higher education being too expensive is not a personal belief.
I lost my dad at the end of 2015. It’s a bitter sweet relief that he never had to see Trump win the primary, let alone the Presidency. Because that would have killed him anyways.
