A lot of obvious, great ideas that we all now take for granted used to be consider mind numbingly stupid, insulting, or flat out wrong. This is why we protect speech. Dealing with the legitimately bad is worth saving the legitimately good, and not having challenging ideas that piss people off become illegal.

If bad, dumb, dangerous ideas were a clear and present danger, we’d need to annex Canada to build more prisons.

Physically fighting people who disagree with you is the classic Nazi tactic. Punching people in the face who’s opinions you despise is blackshirts 101. I don’t see either of these opposing masked figures coming out of this looking anything remotely resembling civilized.
