This is exactly what I thought when reading the article. The lawyer is clearly taking advantage of a grieving child, who happens to have a lot of money.

Seriously. Unless the letter writer is willing to buy a new car for the TDI owner, they should just keep their quips to themselves. I think it’s generally disrespectful to put anything on someone else’s car, because what gives anyone the right to touch someone else’s property?

I’m just wondering how this credibility hit will affect the prices/deals on their non-TDI products.

I wonder why this is being made out to be a bigger scandal than Takata, or GM’s ignition switch, or the pinto? I feel like all of those scandals had more deadly implications than this. Not saying that this isn’t a big deal, but it’s not (immediately) life-threatening like the aforementioned issues were.
