Oddly enough, one of my favorite parts of the state fair was a talent show at the free pavilion that parodied the MDA telethon. Think "The Gong Show" with a bad Jerry Lewis impersonator heckling the contestants.

Never saw a single telethon when I was growing up, because my family spent the entire day at the state fair, which was the biggest event of the year in my hometown. I was too sick from rides and fair food to watch TV when we finally got home way after dark.
