In America the standard is 2 weeks. When someone hires us for a new job, we don't make them wait an entire month before we start.

You sir don't know the difference between MAN-Thing, and SWAMP-Thing.

But that is the standard for many British series. Look at the IT Crowd (25 episodes total over 4 series). Or The Office (14 episodes total). More does not mean better.
