Unfortunately, there are a handful of stories like this every winter. In both Wisconsin and Minnesota (I can really only speak to those states). Usually it is a drunk college student and they end up in a river or lake, it is not very typical that someone dies on a sidewalk.

I’m guessing the kids were charged with contempt, which is essentially disobeying what the Court told them to do, and the Court told them to visit dad and they refused. Being found in contempt of court can get you fines or jail time (or both) in America. I have heard plenty attorneys and Guardian ad Litem’s threaten…

I completely agree with you, a family court judge is almost always 100% more likely to give primary placement to the parent who is less likely to fuck up placement for the other party. It was also pretty obvious she was not looking at her kids as human beings but as property she doesn’t want her ex to have possession…
