the SCOTUS generally holds violent death to be unconstitutional. firing squads are an exception but no one’s been executed in that manner in so long that SCOTUS may include that too, should someone challenge it.

As a POC who is a native-born US citizen, this is beyond upsetting. I’m seriously considering starting to carry my passport and/or a copy of my damn birth certificate all the time.

Just wondering-What happened alternative forms of execution such as hanging and guillotine? Considering the recent failures of the drugs used to sedate, and the long drawn out deaths, are these methods any less cruel? Is it simply because they are far too gruesome to watch, yet they offer a quick death?
