Sincere thanks to all of you at Jez and The Slot that continue to report this shit.
Lolol we’re all doomed.
That last part. Yeah, his math doesn’t add up. I get folks hate Obama but don’t ignore the facts just to fit the meme.
Thank God this change happened. I’m more than elated Trump got elected, by white, brown, and black men and women. Hopefully we can return to a civil society where rule of law and self sufficiency are the order of the day.
“I like to fight around.”
DC really should start calling itself “BATMAN! and some other characters”
Batman’s line at the end...we can do better.
The article is *about* government agencies under Trump. The VA serves around 6.5 million people a year. Saying it “sucks” is uselessly reductive - it certainly has massive problems, but to pretend an agency that serves that many people who are that vulnerable can’t get worse under an uncaring or incompetent…
wait... are you insinuating that “clean coal” isn’t green and isn’t a real thing?
The thought literally makes me want to have a tantrum. This is the state of environmental science in America: held in lower regard than religious superstition.
One of my professors told me that when Bush II came to office the NSF was told that it could no longer fund grants that mentioned the word “evolution”. Of course there was also the ban on any research using embryonic stem cells. I find the former incredibly hard to believe as someone interested in evolutionary…
I’m a federal natural resources technician. We do a lot of climate science in my agency as well. I am fucking petrified, but I can’t admit it out loud at work.
I assert that a vote for Trump was a vote for “burn it down” (government programs in general, not the VA specifically).
I work for the EPA, and the mood has been pretty grim. The idea of a climate change denier as our boss is hard to swallow, to say the least...
I know people (including my ex-wife) who work for the Fed EPA, and after getting a look at the guy being rumored to be the new Boss (Myron Ebell...climate change denier), they are absolutely despondent.
This isn’t regular times. The GOP strategy is going to follow what they’ve done in Wisconsin, Kansas and other states. They are going to pass massive tax cuts which will blow up the deficit, and then use the deficit as a justification for austerity and slashing the federal payroll.
One of my friends works for a state natural history survey, and he says people are terrified. Three of their top four highest funded projects are focused on carbon sequestration and green energy. I guess like 40% of the staff would be laid off if the federal government cut the funding to their biggest project.
I used to be a federal employee, I’m married to one, and know lots. And one thing I can tell you is that there are a lot of conservative federal employees and I have no doubts that many voted for Trump. They’re a sizable minority, but they’re out there. And in my experience, they are going to be stunned when Trump and…
It’s not a Republican administration, it’s a Trump administration. Nothing that has come out since the election has given any indication that this will be anything approaching normal. I don’t think there will be even the bare minimum level of competence.
