I don’t think there ever was a fuckup. The game was expensive due to its voice acting, and EA probably expected to make WoW killer, which didn’t happen, but other than that not much else.

Some people were disapointed it wasn’t 1:1 clone of KotORs, some people were disapointed it didn’t have as much content as WoW at

Well, you can play 95% of SWTOR content solo...Plus story quests are instanced most of the time, so you don’t even see other players there. If you don’t have a problem with being online while playing, give it a spin, it might surprise you how solo friendly and story driven the whole thing is.

And frankly, the combat is

I think so, yes.

Not likely. Stories of KotOR 1/2 are pretty much concluded in SW:TOR, so it would have to be about something completely different anyway.

F2P model isn’t that bad really. If you spend at least 5 bucks on cartel coins or if you are former sub, you get preferred status (forever), which lifts some of the restrictions. Bunch of other permanent unlocks can be bought both for cartel coins and for ingame currency.

Unless you are hardcore raider of PvPer, which

It’s 60+, so if you have lvl 50 character or something like that, you would need to level up a bit. But with XP changes it’s easier now than ever plus it’s worth to go through Makeb expansion story and Shadow of Revan expansion story anyway (you can’t go back to class story or those storylines once you start KotFE).

It’s f2p, you can try it out. I think it is worth playing, it’s a good game, has been for a while. And you generally don’t have to worry about lack of population there, it’s quite healthy, with enough people for group content and steady influx of newbies.

Yeah, even f2p players benefit from general changes. I would recommend to spend at least 5 bucks on the smallest package of cartel coins though, as it gives you “preferred status” which lifts some of the most annoying f2p restrictions and makes leveling up more enjoyable.

Is SWTOR really one of the “most controversial” MMOs? I thought it’s been recognized as quite a decent and popular game for a while.

Sure, it had its share of rage after launch from people who expected Kotor, or same amount of content as WoW 8 years after the release, but I haven’t seen much of a controversy after

Yeah, there are no new ops in KotFE. They scaled up the rest, so there are now 9 raids at lvl 65.

Reworking it to be gamepad friendly would be huge undertaking, they would need to remake the whole combat and controls. This has WoW like style of combat with dozens of abilities, rotations etc, I have troubles with lack of easily reachable keybings even with mouse+keyboard combo, I wouldn’t want to see how crazy it

Shadow of Revan content is still playable, as is everything else. It’s basically like this: Class stories are lvl 1-50, Makeb expansion 50-55, SoR expansion 55-60 and now KotFE 60-65.
