I like the extra space on my Atrix with its 4" screen and I like the fact that it's barely bigger than an iPhone 3GS. The HTC 4.3" phones are monsters though.

Oops. Got one today and rooted it in about 15 minutes. It's a shame the Sony Reader app won't install since that's one of the reasons I got it. Also can't add my own epubs to the home screen, just B&N content. In any case, the Amazon store kinda works and I've got Angry Birds Rio on it now!
But how much of this is due to the iPhone's completely modal, in-your-face notification system? Where a "Watch Lady Gaga's new video premier!" notification is just as important as "You've been outbid on rare Picasso sketch, update your bid now."
It's funny you mention that cause I got the 3GS and then skipped the 4! Didn't care about the cameras and I was able to run iOS 4 anyway, which is what I really wanted.
Except the 3GS was enough of an upgrade to the 3G that the 3GS can run iOS 4 just fine whereas the 3G is relegated to hasbeen status.
Here's the catch. They're not biodegradable. So really, I think the primary reason for Pepsi to do this is that as we approach peak oil, petroleum based plastics will continue to get more expensive. Switching to a plant-based plastic lets them control that cost.
I had an interesting experience with FullForce and the McSweeney's iPhone app. FullForce is an app for Jailbroken iPads that lets you force an iPhone app to run full screen. Basically it modifies a config file to trick the iPad into thinking the app supports the iPad.
Ironically, it turns out the fountain of youth is searching through tons of data to find the fountain of youth.
Google actually used to do this. I used to block expertexchange all the time since they got Google to show all their search results but had a pay wall to get the actual answer.
And when they call support they find out they have to calibrate the battery by driving it non-stop until the car dies and then charge it until full. They should repeat the process at least once a month.
Good analysis and examples. I tend to agree but it will obviously depend on the types of tasks you do on a regular basis. Just quickly thinking about it, if my task were scattered across multiple media types, (say photo editing, writing up accompanying text and finally, the html), it will likely require multiple apps.…
The interesting thing about multitasking on the iPad is you never know if something will work in the background unless it's been explicitly spelled out by the developer. So I've found sometimes I just don't even bother trying.
Ahh yes, I love mad scientist ideas. I was thinking this myself. I also thought up a grand experiment to try to teach wild chimps sign language and see if they can teach it to their offspring. Then after a few generations, if the sign language was a beneficial trait, the ones with the intelligence to learn it would be…
Seeing as how the iPad is the only real player right now, it's easy to conflate tablet advantages/disadvantages with iOS advantages/disadvantages.
So I guess those proposed artificial gravity environments that spin would also allow fires to continue burning.
Agreed. Without content apps, these things are DOA. Google needs to be doing more to court publishers, video providers, etc and extolling the things you can do with Android that you can't on iOS, from both a developer/content provider perspective and for consumers.
That basically means Google has to step up the malware screening process, not that the market needs to go on Apple lockdown. Also we shouldn't conflate Apple's content screening process with a malware screening process.
This makes sense. No one in their right mind would allow streaming a copy of potentially pirated files.
Did someone touch a nerve? Sure it outsold everyone. And by a huge margin. Is that reason enough for Apple to rest on its laurels? Does that mean iOS is perfect?
The loss of history in the App Store is huge! Especially with Genius results. It basically stops any browsing activity I'm doing because I'm constantly reminded of how much a hassle it is.
