It's very modal. All notifications require your immediate attention, even if it's something as mundane as a reminder from Gilt app saying "Shop now!"

If you buy the app in iTunes on your computer, you have to sync it to get it on your device.* With the Android web market, you can browse the market in a browser, buy the app and it's instantly installed on your device.
And lefties get the shaft once again.
What exactly is Apple providing these developers? The developer likely already has a working billing system (they'll have to if they want to have a working web front end), and they host the entire service infrastructure.
Illegal? How so?
I dunno, whenever I've seen references to "computronium" it's usually in the sense of a brain-like computer that is scaled a thousand-fold. Imagine a brain filling up a room.
You know all those worries that LHC could make a black hole? Why don't we actively try to make a black hole!
Especially if you don't take advantage of the illusion and have a larger trackpad like on MacBooks. Things like two finger swipe (or multitouch in general?) would also be a fail if you never knew which of your fingers were actually touching the trackpad. And people used to complain about Macs being form over function.
I don't actually find the length of the commute to be the problem. At least if you're using some kind of public transportation, it's the wait that sucks. Once I'm on the bus, I don't care if it takes me the scheduled hour or twice that. I'm comfy, I have 4G wireless and an iPad. I've read dozens of books since I…
An open iPad or a refined, consistent Android 3 tablet. Wifi-only, no contract, ~$600.
@TigerLeopard: I'm ready. I'm a big Apple fan but I'm done. Hopefully we'll see the Xoom and other Android 3 tablets before March 31.
My bet is that the aliens have figured out YouTube and created their own viral video as some kind of snarky first contact.
So when will this be coming out? Im an Android newb but I'm pretty much tired of Apple's closed iUniverse and this is the first device that looks like it finally cleans up Android's interface inconsistencies.
I haven't ventured out of his Culture novels yet, just finishing them up actually. But I'm gonna pick it up now. Thx.
I'm gonna outnerd everyone with the Culture's Abominator class Falling Outside the Normal Moral Constraints from Surface Detail. I mean, Abominator class? How cool is that? And it's a sentient warship (that chose its own name to boot) that gets giddy when it finally destroys its first ship.
Can you still phreak? I was reminded of this from Egypt blocking everything except seemingly, landlines.
Well, there's also this: [www.tuaw.com]
If you're at all tech or network minded, check out [openmeshproject.org] , created in response to the Egypt situation.
@blyan is not on fire: Re: handrails: Come on now, think of the kids! How better to get kids interested in science and exploration than to show them first hand a 10000 year old cave and how it came to be.
None of these things work for me. The one thing that did? TV! I made a rule for myself that I would only watch a show I like while on the treadmill or elliptical. Works great with whole seasons on Netflix or DVD.
